The Australian Journal of Music Therapy (AJMT) is the flagship publication for the Australian Music Therapy Association. Launched in 1990, it is an international, peer reviewed journal with a dual focus on empirical research and rigorous reports of clinical advances. As of 2016 it is an open access, online journal.
AJMT has a commitment to publishing the work of authors from Australasia and the Asia-Pacific Rim. AJMT champions diverse voices. The topics of interest to music therapists are shared across the world. The AJMT team promotes cultural identity and cross-cultural understanding.
AJMT welcomes early career authors. Our reviewers expect the highest quality reporting, but pursue this via supportive and generous critiques.
In 2016, AJMT moved to an open access online model at austmta.org.au This web-based format increases the speed of production after acceptance. The open access readership will enhance the range of people accessing articles. There will be no author fees for publication.
